What are the benefits of paint protection?

Paint protection gets sold on gloss, but the benefit most owners actually notice is how much less work the car becomes.

Washing gets easier

A protected surface is slicker, so dirt and road grime have less to hold onto and release more readily when you wash. Water sheets and beads off rather than sitting on the panel. In practice that means less contact with the paint to get it clean, which is the whole game when it comes to avoiding swirl marks.

The gloss holds

Freshly corrected paint looks superb. Left unprotected, it starts dulling again from the first wash. Protection is what keeps the finish you just paid for looking the way it did when the car left the studio.

Defence against what dulls paint

UV, road grime, bird droppings, tree sap and general environmental fallout are what age a finish. Protection puts a sacrificial barrier between those and your clear coat, and gives you a window to get contaminants off before they etch in.

It is kinder to the paint long term

Most swirl marks come from washing, not driving. Anything that reduces how hard you have to scrub is directly protecting the clear coat underneath.

It shows at resale

Paint condition is one of the first things a buyer reads, usually without consciously thinking about it. A car with a finish that has been looked after presents as a car that has been looked after.

The important caveat

Protection preserves the condition of the paint underneath it. It does not improve it. That is why we correct paint before protecting it, and why we will tell you if your car needs correction first rather than putting a coating over defects and charging you for the privilege.
