How much does paint protection cost?

Paint protection is one of those things where the quoted price can swing widely between shops, and the reason is almost always what is included before the protection goes on.

Most of the cost is preparation

Protection does not fix paint. It preserves whatever condition the paint is already in. Apply a coating over swirl marks and you have sealed the swirl marks in, sometimes for years.

So a genuine paint protection job includes correcting the paint first. That preparation is usually the larger part of the work and the larger part of the cost, and it is the part that gets quietly skipped in a cheap quote.

What else affects the price

The level of protection

There is a real range here, from a wax or sealant that lasts months through to a ceramic coating that bonds to the paint and holds up considerably longer. They are different products doing different jobs at different prices.

The size of the vehicle

As with correction, more panels means more preparation and more product. A large SUV costs more to protect than a small hatch.

The condition it arrives in

A near new car with healthy paint needs far less preparation than a ten year old daily driver. Two cars can get the same coating and still be very different jobs.

Paint protection with us starts from $900, which covers preparing and correcting the paint and then protecting that finish. The final figure depends on the size of the vehicle and how much work the paint needs first.

Ask what paint preparation is included before the protection is applied. If the answer is a wash, you are paying for a product, not a result.
