What's the cost of professional car detailing on the Gold Coast?

Car detailing covers a lot of ground, from a thorough wash and interior clean through to multi stage paint correction. So the honest answer to what it costs starts with what you actually want done.

What separates a detail from a car wash

A car wash removes the dirt you can see. A detail deals with the car properly: decontaminating and hand washing the exterior without putting new swirl marks into it, extracting carpets rather than passing a vacuum over them, and treating every surface inside rather than wiping the dash.

The time difference is significant, and that is what you are paying for.

What we charge

Standard Inside & Out, from $129

Super foam shampoo, high pressure rinse and a two bucket hand wash. Wheel arches cleaned, tyres dressed and rims shined. Inside, a full vacuum, glass and mirrors, door sills, console, dashboard and trim wiped down, boot cleaned and the cabin deodorised.

Full Interior + Quick Wash, from $220

Everything above, plus deep carpet and mat extraction and shampoo, and leather cleaned and conditioned or upholstery seats shampooed. This is the one for a family car that has had a hard few years.

Full Detail + Machine Polish, from $350

Both of the above, plus a machine polish to remove swirl marks and light to medium scratches. This is where the paint starts genuinely looking different rather than just clean.

Paint Protection, from $900

Paint prepared and corrected, then protected so the finish holds. Quoted on the vehicle.

Why prices start from rather than being fixed

Two cars of the same model can be completely different jobs. Size matters, but so does condition. A car that has been detailed regularly takes a fraction of the time of one that has not been touched in five years, and it would not be fair to charge them the same.

When is it worth it?

Before selling, when detailing reliably returns more than it costs. When you first buy a car, because protecting good paint is much cheaper than fixing bad paint. Or once a year on a car you plan to keep, which stops the slow decline that is expensive to reverse later.
